Some work in progress

I'm actually working on a number of projects. I tend to get bored or unmotivated to work on the same thing over and over so I jumpstart other projects I have in mind. It takes me a while but I'd rather work like this and still be inspired and motivated, than push myself to finish just one project yet produce half-assed results because I rushed things out of boredom.

Anyway, here are some things I thought I'd work on tonight.

I decided to make shoes for Ghoulia Yelps (She has no forearms and hands when I got her). I used paper clay and it took a lot of moulding and smoothing to shape the clay around her feet. I wrapped her feet with cling wrap beforehand. I think I should have also dabbed some petroleum jelly afterwards so that it would be much more convenient to get the shoes off of her feet once they're dry, but nah. Maybe I can wing it.

Madeline Hatter doesn't have a left leg when I found her, but on a different occasion I found another Madeline Hatter with a missing left leg, so what I did is I removed the remaining leg from the second Maddie and I plan to insert it in the first Maddie. I don't mind Maddie with two right legs as long as I can complete her, haha. (If you are wondering what happened to the second Maddie, I transplanted her head to a Cleo de Nile body.)

I will use paper clay to fill in the gaps of my incisions on Maddie's thigh, so paper clay is just so useful for me. It can get messy at times especially when I use lots of water to soften the clay though.

I wish I have a small drill, a pin vise perhaps, so that my transplant could be done much easier or faster, but I only have a craft knife at the moment. Last time I just burnt off the stuck plastic peg from the broken leg of my other dolls, but it took a very long while to get it done. Oh well. I'll just keep on slicing and slicing until I get that damn peg out. I don't think I can finish it today because I have to wake up early tomorrow!

I got both dolls from a thrift store. In fact I think I was very lucky to find two Madeline Hatters because Ever After High dolls are not even sold in toy stores here in Manila.

Elly-chan's Yukatas

At Daiso I found these yukatas for Elly-chan, Daiso's very own plastic doll. They were on sale so I hoarded all 7 yukatas on display.

I asked the cashier if there were more in stock the day before and she said yes, but some dude hoarded them too, and she mentioned that there were also seifukus. Oh well.

At the back of the packaging it says it can't be worn by other dolls, but of course being the badass that I am (lmao), I tried some of them on 3 of my thrifted and armless Monster High dolls.

That's Clawdeen Wolf, Operetta, and poor C.A. Cupid with a bad hair cut!

The hemline of the yukatas should reach the ankles of the dolls but for MH dolls, they are very short. They also tend to show their ~vajayjay when I sit them down so I have to keep tucking the fabric in between their legs to cover them modestly.

I must say, I really wouldn't pay full price for these yukata fashion packs. They're cute and all, but if you know how to sew, these are very easy to replicate. The geta sandals seem bendy but durable for plastic shoes but they 1) are too small, 2) can't be worn because of the joined toes of most dolls, if not all, in this scale. Throwaway? Probably not because they're still cute. I mean, they're miniature shoes, for crying out loud.

Regardless, I like these clothes on them. The long sleeves hide their missing arms (Cupid has her right forearm and hand intact though) and even if the geta sandals do not fit them, they can go barefoot anyway since it's also traditional to wear yukatas without any footwear.

The next day, I went back to get the room dresses left on display. There were only two left and I didn't hesitate anymore to buy them, too. I put one on Lagoona Blue for size and it was too loose, but it's nothing a loom band keeping the dress straps together at the back can't fix.

Why of course, the hello world post!

Ah another blog! I intend to publish posts about toys on this blog though (I'm used to post a lot of random crap or about movies on Tumblr.com), hence the title of this blog. I have a lot of blog posts in mind so I started one. I think I should go with this one for my first post.

Winx Club Magical Glamour Flora doll

(Remind me to put more effort in taking better pictures. I just used a webcam for this one.)

Yesterday I was at my local mall's department store when I found these Winx Club dolls. They were on sale (Buy One Get One, YAAAAAAAS). Look, I'm not really a fan of Winx Club. I think they're just weird-looking dolls. Their waist is so slim, their upper body is very short, and their hips are very much suitable for child-bearing, seriously. But I heard that my niece would love to have dolls of her own, so I thought of her when I bought these using the points from the loyalty card I have. I plan to give one to that particular niece, and the other doll to another niece. I know my other niece is into Hello Kitty, but dolls? I'm not so sure, so I'll give it a try. But both of them have to wait until Christmas or New Year. Yep, I won't give these to them just yet!

So on to the introduction:
Hello, I'm Jamie and I live in Manila, Philippines. I like toys. I'm not a serious collector, but I have my own small collections and stuff. I like thrifting toys (I'm quite picky), and I can be quite crafty at times. Recently I've been into doll customisations and customised my first doll this year. I'll soon post stuff about my toy finds, my doll customs or crafting projects, stuff I've seen while out and about or online, and other musings and rants I have about toys.
