Out of Town Photo Shoot

Here are more photos from my trip. They're taken at the cottage I stayed in. Like I said, I had beach photos, but my phone died. Sad.

There were interesting stones stacked at a corner of our porch, and I thought it would look good if the dolls interacted with it.

I wish I zoomed in a little more in other photos. The lack of zooms is because I don't own the phone I used. I was just borrowing it, so I was a little conscious.

I wish I could do this again; bring dolls to another trip. I'll think about it.

I'm Back

I'm back home safe, so are my dolls. Unfortunately my phone got wet at the beach so it short-circuited. I took beach photos using that phone and I couldn't retake them with a different phone or camera, because the beach was 45 minutes away from where I stayed and it was expensive and inconvenient for me to go back on another day during the trip.

Anyway, here are some I took during the drive to the cottage. It was a six-hour drive so bringing out some of my dolls entertained me and my sister even for a little while.

Rapunzel was really bored so she looked outside the window even though there was nothing much to see at the time.

Anna was hungry so she asked the driver if we could stop by a drive-thru.

We went to Jollibee, lol.

Lottie arrived safely to our cottage. She was wearing a jersey jacket, a yellow skirt, white tights which is from her stock outfit, brown maryjanes, and her luggage bag. It was such a long haul but I'm glad we took this photo before we stowed our things in our room.

The weather wasn't good and it kept raining, so our tours got cancelled. My girls were all waiting to go outside and play at the beach, but no.

Asha was freaking out, naturally.

Meanwhile, Lottie got amazed when she realised that there was a mountain near where we were staying. It was huge. Well, everything is huge from her point view, isn't it?

We had free breakfast at our accommodation. I chose a piece of dried fish, egg, a cup of rice, a banana and a cup of coffee. Lottie came along and surprisingly fits in the napkin holder that looks like a chair.

Creanna really wanted to go outside and enjoy the day at the beach, but no. Sorry, dear, not yet.

This was taken at Las Cabanas beach by my brother. I'm both happy and sad that these are the only photos of my doll at the beach. Happy, because I also took photos of Lottie walking on the sand, but I'm not sure if it's recoverable.

Here's another shot by my brother, overlooking the beach. Lottie is such an explorer, it's pretty cool. She's very handy to place on top of anywhere. My sister is in the background, and she was ~pretending to take candid shots at the beach, for Instagram's sake, of course, ha.

Because Lottie is so convenient to bring, I took more pictures of her than the rest of the gang, which is fine. But before the trip, I was really thinking that it would be Asha or the Rapunzel-Anna tandem who'd be taking more photos because of their poseability, but nope.

There will be more photos to come. I just haven't saved them all to my computer, and I still have some photos left in my sister's phone, waiting to be uploaded.

Going Out Of Town

I'll be out of town soon and I'll be bringing a couple of dolls with me for the trip. I got my new sewing machine to work recently, and to test it, I made a swimsuit set from scratch without making patterns.

I find this hilarious because her floater is actually from a baby toy, but it works very well as a beach prop.

I don't know if I'll be making more clothing before the trip. Probably not because I don't have the time. But this is fun, seeing an old knit shirt I bought at a thrift store years ago for P10 transform into doll clothing.

Receiving Zombie Alice

I got a notice from the postal office about a parcel. I felt confident that it's the Zombie Alice doll from Once Upon A Zombie, which I had been waiting for for so long.

This is the box I got.

I opened it and found a long piece of brown paper inside.

It's here!!! Alice is home!

I can't believe it. Thank you, OUAZ!

I had to pay P112.00 for the basic customs fee. I told the people there that she is a prize so I wasn't asked to pay more than that amount.

I removed the white hair ties on her head because her hair got a bit messy when I unboxed her.

I tried my best to release the doll without ruining the whole box, because that box art is so pretty. I think I did well. The cardboard backing is still intact and the plastic is still attached to it.

Hello, Muff!

I read Hey, It's Muff and she's one of the reasons I got started into blogging, and it's really nice that she's responsive to comments.

Anyway, she recently acquired a used Happy Family Grandma's Kitchen. The grandma here is Midge's, I think. Well, I noticed the Barbie doll she used to demo the kitchen is quite tall for the set. The ceiling, if there should be one, is not high enough for the doll. Then Muff said that it's because the grandma doll is much shorter. To me it's kinda weird that Mattel produced a set that cannot accommodate a regular sized Barbie because Barbie is their main product right there. Besides on the box of the set, you could see Midge and her husband Alan sitting by the table, which means using regular sized Barbie for the kitchen set is intended. I mean, in real life, a visitor is the one that adapts to the home they visit, not the other way around, but the point of the kitchen set is for Midge's family to come over and hang out while grandma does her thing in the kitchen. So for Midge and Alan being too tall for the set is just strange.

For ~science, Muff posted a new video of her cleaning the stickers of off the set, and surprisingly, she compared the height of the grandma doll and the regular sized Barbie doll at the end. She also mentioned my Blogger name, Oly, heh. My real name is Jamie, but I use Oly for Blogger to protect my privacy somehow. Don't ask me how I think it works, lol. I'm glad that she remembered me. :D

Now I see that the set is too short of both of them, haha. Imagine the grandma trying to jump in the kitchen and hitting her head in the process.

Ever Gotesco High

I found clones of Ever After High's Getting Fairest dolls at my local Ever Gotesco department store, hence the title of this blog entry. Haha.

ERER AFTER HIGH

For reference, I'm including a stock photo of the Getting Fairest dolls.

If you couldn't tell, the clone dolls have Monster High bodies.

This is clone Briar Beauty. I think her look is the closest to the original. I would have gotten her if only I had a budget for two dolls, but I didn't.

Clone Maddie's skin tone is much darker, and she's just as tall as the other clone dolls, which is off-character.

Clone Apple's hair looks messy and she seems to have two variants: orange top, and pink top.

I settled with clone Raven Queen because I like her character and her straight hair looks manageable.

She's free, at last!

I have no authentic Raven Queen doll to compare with, so I couldn't tell if it's the same sculpt. All I know is that she's missing the white spots on her lips.

Bald spot, ahoy. Maybe I'll paint this black so it wouldn't be that visible.

I took of her clothes. I don't know if her hands are removable, but more likely that they might not be, so I'd rather not take the risk of breaking the hands off in the process of finding out.

For a bootleg doll, her body is sturdy. There are visible and rough seams on her body, but I don't mind.

Here she is with my clone Frankie (with hands I fixed). Raven's quality is much better than Frankie's, for sure.

I'm satisfied with clone Raven. Cheers!
