Lottie’s World: Horse Grooming

Here’s my current collection of doll horses.

I didn’t intend to build a small collection like this. I just started with one horse, the Barbie horse (far right), because it was the only one I could find at the moment, then I found the Battat horse (far left), and thought, hey I don’t have a bigger horse oh this must be nice. Then I forgot about it. Then recently I found two horses from the Spirit Riding Free line and suddenly remembered the movie. It was so good! I haven’t seen the series yet and I only know of Spirit, the one with the dark mane, but the other one, I had to look up. Its name is Chica Linda, but I digress.

So I thought of taking pictures of the horses with Muddy Puddles!

With the Battat Horse

Not the best shots because I was using natural light and I feel that the size of the horse blocked the light on Muddy Puddles’ face. Oh well.

With the Barbie horse

There’s nothing much to say here, lol.

With Chica Linda

At first I was doubtful if I could take decent photos of Chica Linda when she’s looking down like that, but her pose somehow shows a story here, like komaybe she’s asking for pets, haha. I totally forgot to add to place the body brush on Muddy Puddles, oops.

With Spirit

I actually got Spirit with a missing tail, and it’s an easy fix with yarn, but I haven’t replaced it because I ran out of brown yarn. So for these photos, I made sure to position Spirit and Muddy Puddles this way so that we don’t see his lack of tail.

As for my life updates, I’m back in the city. I don’t know if I’ve written about it before, yes I’m back, but I’m living on my own. Sometimes it’s fun, sometimes it’s not, but I can deal with it. I just got my booster shot the other day and experienced some side effects like my vaccine site swelling, a slight fever and tiredness but I read that’s just normal. While I was sick, I slept most of the day to recover and drank lots of fluids. I don’t have fever anymore and feel much better, but have lost my appetite. I’m just eating my meals because I have to but I’m not enjoying it. It will get better, I just know it. Hope this finds you in good health. Stay safe!

Lottie’s World: Squid Game Doll Dress

I finally got the energy to sew something for Lottie.

I bought a pack of felt from Mr. DIY and downloaded this dress pattern for Lottie and modified it so that I could make a dress similar to the one worn by the doll from the Netflix show called Squid Game. I made this last month:

The colors are off. I can explain. There were two kinda of orange felt from the pack I bought, but I didn’t want to mess with the darker orange felt before I got the modification correctly, so I used the lighter orange.

I also didn’t want to copy the dress the exact same way. I took some artistic liberty to make the sleeves of the orange overall dress a bit capped and the neckline much higher.

The sleeves of the yellow top is also shorter because the material is stiff and I don’t want the thickness of it to affect Lottie’s articulation.

The darker orange looks a bit too bright though for the costume, yes?

I used an Instagram filter to make the dress look darker and match the Squid Game doll dress, haha.

I don’t know if I want this for Lottie’s Halloween costume or I’m gonna make another one. I’ll think about it.

I styled the dress differently afterwards. Lottie is wearing a Paddington Bear hat, a Licca watch and Muddy Puddles’ rain boots.

Now she reminds me of Madeline and it gives me ideas, hahaha.

Lottie’s World: A Photo Dump

Dear Readers,

I haven’t written a blog in months. As per a previous blog entry, I mentioned that I wanted to focus on my health. It’s been a journey and it’s taking a long while to achieve my health goals but I’m getting there. I’m doing fine, I feel fine. You don’t have to worry about me. ✊

Anyway I just want to post some photos I took of my Lotties a little while back.

They’re playing with My Mini MixieQ’s, the ones I received as gift from Melissa. Thank you! So grateful.

These two girls are playing this fishing game. It’s a tiny one I found at Toys R Us and I thought the fishing rods are a good size for Lottie dolls.

I took photos of Branksea Festival Lottie by herself because I rarely photograph her on her own. She is so cute!

I shall try taking photos again soon. Hope some inspiration comes by.

Stay safe!

Warehouse Sale, Skelita, and Lava Cake

I went to Richprime Global Inc's warehouse sale last December 5th. This is my haul from the warehouse which was a couple of floors up the building, and at Kids Depot on the ground floor.

2 Angry Birds camping sets worth P300 each, because I’ve wanted a miniature tent for so long, I might as well get two tents because why not.. I heard about this camping set from a fellow doll collector who found one at the sale, so I made sure to look out for this when I visited the warehouse. These were actually difficult to find. The boxes were placed so far back in one of the Barbie shelves, and I had to pull out other boxes in front to see these.

A Rio 2 blue macaw family pack worth P200, because the woman who bought the duo packs said she’d be using hers for her plants and I was like whooaaa..  I've been using the birds to decorate my cactii, haha.

A La Dee Da fashion pack, worth P50, with the bunny missing and the straps of the dress already disintegrating but that’s ok because it’s hella cheap anyway.

2 sets of Monster High tapefitti tapes, worth P200 each, for me and my friend. My friend likes washi tapes, and I like to craft when I have the time, so these are perfect for us.

And a Barbie MTM pink top, worth P700, for my friend because she has been looking for one for so long and we couldn't find any at our local stores anymore. She has already paid me back, lol.

Here is Lottie modelling the La Dee Da fashion pack, the Rio birds, and the camping set!

Brand new Monster High dolls are so rare now, I could only find them at Kids Depot. I found Scarah Screams (Freaky Fusion) there for P200!! That's crazy! But I didn't want to get her because I don't like her fusion with Toralei Stripe, haha.

Speaking of Monster High, I found Skelita Calaveras at the thrift store back in November.

I have no clothes for her, but I think I like her naked like this; I can see al her bones.

And I wish I knew whom to credit for the photo above. I found it on Instagram and forgot to get the link, shucks! Anyway, that's a gorgeous lava cake with a doll topper made to look like Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray from the Philippines! She even has the iconic Three Stars and Sun ear cuff! This is truly a work of art!

Bodysuits, The Hiding Sewing Machine and Cat Noir

I attempted to make a pattern and sew a bodysuit again, in a smaller scale, but alas, I made the sleeves and the pant legs very narrow! Add to the fact that I chose a not so good fabric that doesn't stretch. (I chose it because it's shiny, unlike the black t-shirt fabric that I have.) What a waste! I cut off the sleeves and the legs and gave the suit a try on Lottie.

Seems like the collar has too much fabric. That won't happen if the fabric is thin but stretchy.
Mental notes... Mental notes...

I would have been faster if I used my sewing machine, lol. I decided to check it out from storage.

Here it is under a Christmas themed microwave oven cover. I had to tuck the sides of the cover with binder clips.

Tada!!! I have to re-learn how to sew on this thing. That's going to be my goal in 2019, lol.

May these pictures of Cat Noir and Antibug from Miraculous inspire me to make the bodysuit/s that I need.

Speaking of Cat Noir, I found one from an online seller, and I should get it later this week. He's missing one hand, his tail and weapon, but I don't mind. I asked the seller if Cat Noir's bodysuit fits an Ever After High boy doll, but the boy doll she had is Daring Charming with the sculpted shoes (Ew!), so she couldn't get Daring's feet through the pant holes. But she managed to try Cat Noir's bodysuit on Monster High's Clawd Wolf and it was quite a good fit. Still, I'd like to dress up my Hunter Huntsman doll with a bodysuit for a custom project, and I know that EAH boy dolls are quite bulkier than MH boy dolls, so I think I just have to make that suit on my own soon.

Lottie's World: Pet Horse

I put Lottie back in her riding outfit. In this photo, I finally included a pet horse for her, but it's actually too small for her so she can't ride on it. Haha. But it looks cute as her companion. I don't have a name for the horse yet.

I think this one is my favourite shot out of the bunch I took because I can see the pathway I made with the tiny stones. I laid each stone on the fake grass one by one!

I had to take photos of the cats. They were curious about the "rock mountain" on the wheelbarrow.

Just a behind the scenes pic. The light on the left is too bright, I actually covered it with a white cloth to soften the light. All the pics except this BTS one have been filtered on Instagram.

DIY Doll Hanging Egg Chair

I finally made a hanging egg chair for my doll!

The seat is just a clear plastic bowl I found at the store. I hand drilled a hole on one side and attached a jump ring and a short chain to it, then I hung it up on...

... a banana holder! The shape of this banana holder is perfect!

Now I have to make a cushion with pits on it to make this chair more comfortable.

Here's a video for making a hanging egg chair using yarn!

I really did want to use a clear plastic bowl and a banana holder though so I didn't follow the instructions (except for attaching chains to the chair). The good thing about that project above is it fits 1:6 dolls.

I also made the pants Lottie is wearing in the photo. The fabric is from an old sewing project that I abandoned years ago.

In other news, I can't find the set of tiny plastic easter eggs that I wanted to buy anymore. They're now out of stock! I shouldn't have hesitated the first time I saw them, ugh. Oh well, I think I can just come up with another idea on how to make doll balloons. I mean, I could totally use regular sized eggs, but Lottie is small. I want something that's more in scale for her size.

The idea about doll balloons came from here, btw:

Lottie's World: Seaside and Daiso

I finally had the chance to take pictures of Lottie again. This is at the seaside, and Lottie brought Toffee the dog with her!

A train passed by. We didn't ride it though.

While shooting this on the (fake) grass, a toddler came by and tried to take Lottie away from me!! It was good that I was quick to react. I packed up everything and left.

On my way home, I passed by the Daiso store and saw this display of toy dinosaur bones.

This reminds me of my childhood, when I was quite well-versed about dinosaurs. I used to know a lot of dinosaur names and even periods.

I actually got my fake grass here at Daiso!!

Oooh look at these toy boats, too.

I didn't get any of these though. But I want to make one, kinda like that put-put boat that Ponyo and Sosuke rode in that Ghibli movie. Hmmm.
