Peppa-mint and Maddie

I just noticed that Shopkins Shoppies doll Peppa-mint from the Chef Club series reminds me of Ever After High's Madeline Hatter from the Sugar Coated line.

And it would resemble something similar to Madeline Hatter:

Look at their hair colour! Look at their apron! their dripping chocolate skirt with pink/white stripes! Look at their chocolate waffle shoes with a scoop of dripping ice cream on top!

If I ever find Peppa-mint at the thrift store, I'd be totally game to transplant her head to a Monster High or Ever After High body.

Afro Barbie Doll

Why can I not resist! I have bought three dolls this month. Princess Grace, then Venus, and now her:

It's an African American Princess Ballerina doll. When I found her, she was missing her tiara and her sheer tutu. That's totally fine. What I noticed and what drew me to buying her was her hair. It's wavy from the roots and very curly at the ends. I thought she had potential. Even if I have three Nikkis already, I could make room for one more.

She's now a foxy sexy housewife, lol. My friend told me to dress her up in shorts, so I did. And this is the only shirt I could find. I would have loved to dress her up in gold or anything fabulous, but my doll clothing arsenal is very limited.

I let her curls down and separated the hair strands even more so that the curls would spread out. I could totally put her hairstyle back to an updo, but what's the fun in that? I already have a Made To Move Asha (yellow top) and her hair is already in an updo. Their hairstyles would look similar if I did that. Besides I only have two afro-haired dolls so far in my collection: Ari Roma and Honey Swamp. Ballerina would be a nice addition.

I switched her body with Film Director Barbie's because I like Film Director's pose and her articulated knees and ankles. I also like Ballerina's face much better than Film Director's because of her smaller eyes.

I actually need to form her curls so that the whole afro looks rounder. I've placed her in a small plastic bag so that gravity and pressure can work its own way of pressing her hair down to her head a bit. I don't want to apply heat, that's all.

This is how I want her to look. Her afro should look rounder, and fuller at the back.

Meanwhile, not in photo, Film Director's head is on Ballerina's Barbie. Because Film Director's hair part is in the middle, it's quite challenging to put her hair up. Meh, I like her hair straight and silky. I don't think I need to style her hair that way anymore.

Donating Dolls

Tonight I donated rebodied Barbie and Liv heads to a local department store, including a blonde Kid Kore Katie doll (not rebodied at all) that I just couldn't warm up to when I thought I would before. I also included my nude Paddington Bears that have been stored in a box for months. I just don't think I'll be able to find use for them anymore, so off they went.

I didn't even document the whole thing. It was just something random that I did tonight. I was about to head out for a movie, when I thought, hmm, I could simply drop off a bunch of dolls at the department store tonight. And I sorted through my spare doll body parts box quickly and got what I could manage to put together in a short time, and I think my bag had five to seven nude dolls in it when I left the house.

I feel a little bad that I couldn't dress up the dolls before I donated them, but I think those kids who will get them would be creative and motivated enough to dress them up on their own. 

My body parts box still have a lot of things in it, but they're mostly broken or what I still might need in the future so I'm still holding on to them. I'm actually thinking of styling this particular Barbie head with jagged hair, and cut its hair into a bob so I could somehow salvage it. I've been wanting to do this since I joined this doll restoring group on Facebook. I caught wind of this man's name: Dana Rivenburgh, and he was a beloved member of the group, known for stylishly cutting his Barbies' hair short. Too bad I only joined the group after his death this year. I would have loved to see his fresh doll posts. (I actually saved some of his own doll photos so I could copy their look for my dolls. Thank you, Dana, for the inspiration!)

I just got home and thought that the movie I saw is a waste of time, lol. I still have some energy to sort out additional toys I could donate. Perhaps some plastic toys this time, which I've acquired from buying toys by the lot.

I found Venus!

Long day yesterday!

It rained so hard, but I had to run my errands and ended up getting wet in the process, not to mention the mud stains on my thighs when someone carelessly stepped on a mud puddle in front of me.

Anyway, I found Venus McFlytrap at the thrift store! She's from the Ghouls' Night Out line! She has missing arms, but her hair is in perfect condition and so was her flocking on the side of her head. I gave her Create A Monster arms, both left arms haha, because I thought it would be the perfect time to donate CAM parts to a Monster High doll like Venus. They are green, which is perfect for her skin colour, and I had to shave down the pegs a little with a crafting knife and a diamond file. I also gave her green hands from a drink stirrer, and secured them on her arms with floral wire, hah. Really suits Venus, huh. I thought this wire is much daintier to look at, that I might as well start using it for my other broken dolls.

I dressed her up in pink and green because that's her theme colour.

Top: Paddington Bear jacket, secured with a loom band on the waist.

Skirt: Barbie skirt, secured with a loom band on the waist.

Pants: Unknown black lace tights that are too short for her, but I secured the crotch with a loom band.

Shoes: Clone MyScene shoes that do split in half, which I also secured with a loom band.

Belt: A sheer green ribbon, and the black buckle is from a bra strap.

Venus's doll stand was also thrifted for P25 at the thrift store on a different day.

At the thrift store, I also thrifted a green Bratz Study Abroad luggage. I think it's Yasmin's. It had stickers all over it from her stock stickers, but I removed them all because they are randomly stuck on her luggage and I didn't like the look. I was debating with myself if I should paint the lips on the luggage red, or just leave them be.

Then at Daiso, I bought 5 cellphone chairs. They were on sale for P25 each! I bought 2 blue ones, 2 orange ones, and this lone green chair that Princess Grace is sitting on right now, all for P125. I think I need to make a cushion for the blue and orange chairs because the doll would slide off a little when seated on it. I just love doll chairs and sofas. I don't have enough doll stands, so having my dolls sit on these miniature chairs does the job of displaying them.

I still have a lot of things to write about from my trip to the toy store yesterday, but that's for another post.

Test Makeup

I tried doing a face repaint, and wow it's tough.

This is a test doll I thrifted before. Her head is from a Monster High Create a Monster Design Lab. Her eyes and her lips are flat because you're supposed to be sticking tattoos of eye shapes and lips on her when you have the complete Design Lab. 

I tried copying Japan Skipper doll's eyes. It's hard when my watercolour pencils are not sharp enough and do not adhere very well to the surface. I primed the head before, with a liquid satin sealant and a damp sponge, but I don't remember if I removed it or not, haha. So if applying the colours was a bit difficult, then I think it means I didn't put enough sealant on it. Oh and it's just the first layer so I really need to build it up.

It was actually difficult for me to place where the eyes and the lips should go. I think I would enjoy painting on a non-Create A Monster doll because the eyes and lips are defined.

The blush circles were just random. I don't have chalk pastels. Should I get some??

I have white acrylic paint but I was too lazy to bring it out, lol.

I need to learn doing eyebrows much better. They need to be thicker, I believe.

I'll practice more, for sure.

It's a Barbie Basics doll with a Carnaval head sculpt! With her stock outfit and shoes! Oh my!!! The kid who's going to get her is so lucky!

At the thrift store, I found some broken Monster High dolls. I didn't buy any of these.

TEAM NO ARMS.

Freshwater Lagoona Blue from the Freaky Fusion 13 Wishes line! I almost got her because I don't have a blue Monster High doll, but I already have too many Lagoonas, so I put her back.

I wanted this Frankie Stein doll, but her hair has been cut in places. I don't want to deal with cut hair, so I left her. She has nice blue streaks though. It makes her extra special.

And that's another Lagoona. Pass.

Draculaura. She's missing a couple of hair plugs. And I have too many Draculauras, too, so nope.

Oh and I told myself I should stop buying dolls this month, but I failed and bought this clone made in Hong Kong. It's not a Barbie doll so I'm still good.

It's a clone doll of Mod Barbie! I love it! Her face is stunning! She has rooted eyelashes and her hair is thick and generously rooted for a clone doll! I just love her face. I don't think I'm that interested anymore in getting a vintage Barbie Silkstone because I now have her. I just prefer her face than a Silkstone's. But I shouldn't close my doors. What if a clone Silkstone comes along my way and I like it too?? Oh no, my wallet...

Her body is mostly hollow, but her legs have wire inside so she can bend her knees!

On the back of the doll, it says that she's a 1968 Princess Grace doll. So now I'm calling her Princess Grace.

Princess Grace went through a dress fitting stage because I don't know how I should dress her up. I even had to ask my friend's opinion about what would look good on her.

In the end, I settled with Curvy Barbie's floral dress and these silver shoes, secured with loom band. And I just realised then that I had some cheap flower earrings I do not use so I impaled Princess Grace's head with one, lol. The flower fits her outfit's ruffles!

The belt is actually the hair tie she came with. The hair tie made an impression on her hair so her hair is not straight looking, but I'm already done with her. I don't want to boil wash her hair anymore. I mean, what if the hair gets fried because of the heat? I don't want to risk it.

Her legs are kinda warped, but I think this makes it easy for me to pose her more elegantly. I don't think I could do this cross-legged pose if her legs were the click type.

Aaaand at Puregold, I found these dolls. They're called Trendy Amelia. I only saw three variants.

Oh a black doll??? That's nice!

I think I like her hat.

More Doll Dress Up Games (with Zomby Gaga)

So I played at StarSue.net again!

I did this a while back. It's a dress up of Mira Shards from Ever After High. I made her look darker because her character is evil.

I don't know what I was thinking when I dressed up Miraculous Ladybug this way. Maybe I was projecting Jollibee onto her, lol. But I actually had a marathon of Miraculous episodes two days ago, so I thought it would be fun to make another one for Ladybug. Here is my old dress up of her.

Shoppies Poppette from Shopkins. I like her original popcorn themed outfit and didn't want to stray far away from it, so I didn't give her pants or shorts. This is all right.

Teen Tinkerbell from Fairy Tale High. I wanted her to look more rough and boyish, but those pink wings are a mistake. I couldn't get rid of them without resetting the whole look so I went with it.

Zomby Gaga from Monster High! I haven't talked about her yet on this blog, ha. Lady Gaga's doll will be available next year! I enjoyed making these the most because of the music playing in the background. It's so catchy and fun!

I don't like her hair here as much as the others because she looks like she's balding, lol.

This is my favourite look for her. I wonder if I can do something similar on an actual doll. Oh ambitions.
