Doll Bingo

I stumbled upon frostedmintdolls' post about doll bingo and found their bingo cards pretty relatable, so I tried playing it.

Here is Doll Bingo card no. 1:

Dolls from 2+ Other Countries - Well, I have a lot of American dolls, but I also have a collection of Takara dolls and Daruma dolls (Japan), a Sindy doll (United Kingdom), and an unidentified doll from Hong Kong. I don't give much thought about where all my dolls come from, so these are all the countries that came to my mind easily.
2. Multiples of The Same Character - Oh this is normal with Monster High dolls. I have multiples of Frankie, Draculaura, Clawdeen and Lagoona. Then I also have two Licca dolls, and authentic and bootleg dolls of Anna from Frozen.
3. Doll Representing Someone Age 30+ - According to the Takara Tomy website, Pierre Miramonde is thirty six years old. So yes, I have a doll who's in their thirties.
4. Doll with 14+ joints - Liv dolls have 14 points and I have used two of them for re-bodying two Disney heads. My Power Ranger is not a fashion doll but his points of articulation are much higher than 14.
5. Own 100+ Dolls - Nope I don't think I have that many. Maybe more than fifty but doesn't exceed a hundred. I haven't really counted them all.

1. Doll with Animal Aspects / Anthro -  Oh yes, I have Pinkie Cooper, an I Love VIP Pets hybrid,  a custom cow child,  and isn't a My Little Pony Equestria Girls doll an anthro, too?
2. Have A Romantic Pairing - I have Deuce Gorgon (which I have yet to photograph) and Cleo de Nile and they're official.
3. Paid * For Single Doll (*$300+ USD for plastic, *$900+ USD for resin/porcelain) - Never did. Never will.
4. Bought A Doll Only For Its Clothing - I don't think I have done this. I mean, my clone Betty Teen doll came with an outfit which proved to be useful when my Sindy doll came along, so clone Betty has no clothes now, and is even body-less. But I never bought her for her outfit. I really thought she has a charming face despite her hollowness.
5. Anime-style Doll - I have Pretty Cure Mini Cure Black. And I also have another Pretty Cure doll to be discussed in an upcoming post.

1. Period Clothing -  I don't really have a thing for stuff like this.

So I'm really more of a doll collector than a doll customiser. Thank goodness, because I know how taxing doll customising can get.

New Thrifting Haul, and G.I.R.L. Force [something] So Wild Creanna doll

The other day, I thrifted more toys.

More 7-11 Paddington bears, and a doll! I got the doll for P75, then the bears for P24 each, for a total of P147.

I learned that this is a Pretty Cure Splash Star doll. She's called Cure Bloom.  Her original hairstyle is somewhat still in place, but without her magical girl outfit, this looks ridiculous. I just tied her hair a little at the back of her head so that this part of her hair would lay flat.

I've always wanted an anime doll of this size. She's my second anime doll, and also my second Pretty Cure doll. She and Cure Black should meet some time!

My bears here are wearing interesting jackets. I am more interested in their clothing than the actual bears, haha. Here's Barcelona, Spain.

These jackets look good on my Monster High dolls. The colours and design look suitable on them, so that's why I try to collect Paddington's clothes. Paddington's hats really fit their heads well, too. I didn't get the London bear though because I thought the design looks bland. 

So far, I have six jackets out of nine in the series above.

I'm curious about this though, because it seems to be a different set. I want to get the purple Paris bear!!

From this set, I only have two: the red plaid jacket and the green jacket. I would like to have that yellow raincoat. It reminds me of Muddy Puddles Lottie!

My online purchase also arrived on the same day I thrifted. Yes!

It's G.I.R.L. Force [something] So Wild Creanna! Her hair is much shorter here but I do not mind. She came in a Barbie dress, a freebie the online seller gave me due to the delay of the shipment of this doll.

Here is Creanna nude. Look at those curves! Look at her breasts! Look at her belly! Look at her thighs!

She has limited poses but when I get her to pose, she's wonderful.

I got her because I thought she could be a great swimsuit model. These photo stories (1 | 2) further proved my theory.

Her collarbone!!!

It's difficult to dress her up because she's such a big girl, but I'll come up with something. The bikini top my spare Barbie TNT body is using in this post is on her now, and just as I thought it fits her well. I am thinking of making swimsuits for her. Exciting!

Hair Mascara Experiment

The weather for the past week has been terrible. The heat wave makes me sweat buckets and clouds my mind so much. I can tolerate the heat more than the cold, but come on now, anything extreme is just harmful.

This first item is not doll-related but I managed to find my favourite cooling powder at Watsons.

A couple of years ago, Snake Brand powder came in a tin can, not in a plastic container like this. Plus, they had a bigger size and that's what I usually buy. I thought it was really timely that I found this brand again.

Anyway, when I found the powder, I also found this on sale:

It's a pink Chromastix hair mascara on sale for P23.

The colour of the mascara looks off on the first pic, so I placed my powder next to it to correct the colour.

Well, I tried.

By the way, here's a vintage miniature Barbie doll I thrifted for P10 (LOL). Her hair was in bad shape. She lost so much when I brushed it, and I have no plans of rerooting, so crunchy hair she'll continue to have. Her face has bite marks too.

She's way tinier than a Dawn doll!! I wrapped her body in ribbon so that she could have clothing. The ribbon looks like a modern dress, doesn't it? No sew, no glue, yes!

I painted her built in shoes with gold nail polish.

I tried to take a closeup of her face but she's so tiny and my iPhone camera can't take in all the small details. Ms. 2D told me this is a Dazzle doll (Thank you!). I found out this was made in the early eighties, and it's not Barbie. Ooh..

Back to the Chromastix hair mascara, I used it on my spare head. This is the Betty Teen clone I have from this post. I painted her hair pink.

She reminds me of a Takara doll here.

I temporarily put her head on the Disney dress form I have.

I combed her hair so she could still have her curls.

I swear her hair looks much better way after I took this photo because I restyled her curls even more. Her hair became a bit stiff because of the mascara, but I do not mind because I want her curls intact anyway.

The mascara is indeed washable, just like how washable it is when used on human hair. I was kinda hoping the pink colour would stain my doll's hair so that her blond hair would have a hint of pink, but no. Everything just comes right off. I found out when I washed a few strands of her hair to test the mascara's staying power.

Now it gave me more ideas. There were other colours of hair mascara on the shelf as well. I found purple, burgundy, neon green and neon pink, but I know there used to be royal blue on there too, when the price for a mascara was still P55 or something like that.

Zombie Alice preview

Today I looked up Once Upon A Zombie on Google and found this from mommyandgracieshow:

They finally have Zombie Alice and the newly dressed Zombie Cinderella and Zombie Sleeping Beauty. Now the question is, where is my Alice doll?? :(

I want to see if there have been changes to the final design of Zombie Alice, so I'm bringing up my old comparison of the old Alice prototypes:

and one thing I noticed is that Zombie Alice now is missing her heart and spade hair accessories.

Why??!

Again, where's my doll, OUAZ???

Thoughts About Collecting, and Nikki

A day or two ago, I decided to make a rough inventory of all the dolls I have acquired and refine my wish lists, and in the process I've slimmed down what I want to keep collecting. So far I want to keep collecting (thrifting) Monster High and Ever After High dolls. Those are my priorities. Then if I find more La Dee Das, Takara dolls, Novi Stars, Disney princesses and boy fashion dolls that appeal to me, I might take them in. Then I also would like one doll from each line I like, which is like more than ten dolls, haha. There's no end to my doll journey just yet!

Shocker that I don't have Barbie up there, but I still want to get a few items from this line. Like, I have two Nikkis now.

Notice that Film Director Nikki has bigger eyes than random Nikki. And some talcum powder took care of the greasy hair caused by glue seepage. The weather right now might make the situation worse, I had to take action, you know. Haha.

By the way,  I did find a fully articulated Nikki before but I let her go. That was the time I wasn't really interested in Nikki and didn't know my friend wanted it. Drat.

Maybe this will become a collection, too? I don't know. I also want a Life In The Dream House Midge because the Steffie mold looks gorgeous with Midge's red hair. Someday, someday...

By the way, I asked my sister if she could buy a Made To Move yellow top doll (Asha). I might receive it next month or June, I don't know. I hope she can get more than one yellow top doll for me because I have plans. Hmm...

What's In The Bag?

Yesterday I was feeling crafty so I made head bands for my dolls. I forgot to take photos of them after I was done, so that would be for another entry.

Anyway, I went to my new place and brought some stuff over. Then I picked up a few items from there. Afterwards, I got hungry, so on my way home, I stopped by a local shopping centre to grab something to eat. I also thought of going to this centre because I want to visit a shop there selling pre-loved items from Japan, including toys.

I've been to this place before, but I was in a hurry so I wasn't able to look around that long. This time, I checked almost everything. There are some nice things in there but the price wasn't good enough for me.

I was about to leave when I spotted a clear plastic bag filled with stuff. What stood out for me is a green item that resembles a doll hanger. I asked the attendant if I could check the bag up close.

Took this photo in the car because I was that excited.

There's the doll hanger at the bottom of the bag. I checked the other stuff inside and soon realised that I had to get it. I asked for the price...

... and the attendant told me it's P75. DEAL! 

Here is what's inside the bag:

Four Takara doll stands, three clip on Barbie hangers, one green Barbie hanger, a doll sack of rice, and plastic carrots inside a small mesh bag! 

Red Ranger was quick to model the doll stand on my dash. Red Ranger and I have been apart for a while and I want to give him new hands soon, so he is one of the items I picked up from my place!

This kind of stand secures a doll by the calves. I just slip the doll legs through the stand in a certain manner and the doll would stay there in place.

At home, I wanted to try out the doll stands using different dolls. Of course, Licca (far right) passed the doll stand test like a champ. Her dad, Pierre, can also use it, but Licca is still my first choice for this kind of acrylic stand.

Next to Pierre is Barbie Film Director Nikki. If her knee joints were loose, she wouldn't be able to stand at all. She would just fall face down.

Anna in a Liv doll body is next to Nikki, and her calves are quite big for the stand. Because of her calves, her legs tend to go forward and her feet couldn't stay flat. I had to bend her knees a little so she could maintain her balance.

The one wearing the zebra hat is Pinkie Cooper. I had to bend her knees so she could use this stand. This is also the case for the tall blonde, Moxie Girlz Avery.

Dawn, in the black polka dot dress with ribbon trim, can use this stand just fine.

I tried a Barbie Twist and Turn body with articulated knees on the stand as well. I had to fix the knees first before I could make the doll balance.

Howleen's calves are quite big for the Takara stand, and her knee joints that are a bit loose make the task more challenging, but I managed.

I chose Cleo to represent Monster High in this stand test because her knee joints are quite tight. I found out that her calves are too big for the stand just like Howleen's, so it's better to use stands that have a clamp on the waist area instead.

Jenny has no problem using the doll stand. She's after all a Takara doll. That hair though. Not even boil wash can take it down!

Pocahontas can use the doll stand too, but she is so tall for this kind of stand so she's a bit top heavy for it. Any slight movement to the box the dolls are standing on could make her topple down.

Now my two Liccas are using the stands, then Skooter uses the third one. The fourth one is now in storage. I am pretty pleased with them all.

In Memory of The Brown Skirt

While I was going through my old entries here on my blog, I just realized that I haven't seen my brown doll skirt for quite a while. It's the skirt on the far right, as seen on this post:

It's a good and well-sewn skirt. I was planning to try it on Pocahontas but alas, it has gone missing.

Then I just recalled that when my nieces and other relatives came over for my sister's birthday last month, I shared some of my dolls and a few doll clothes and shoes for them to play with. It just so happened that we also opened a big box of care package from America, so the living room was filled with clothes-- human clothes. I guess, when they returned my things, the skirt was left behind. Then when my relatives cleaned up the living room, my doll skirt accidentally got bagged with the clothes they were bringing home.

I'm kinda bummed about losing this skirt. It was really a good skirt, and I don't even have a lot of bottoms. So I'm making this post in memory of the brown skirt.

Mimi was the first to model this skirt. Then Aurora also wore it some point but I didn't take a photo of her at the time.

You will be missed, brown skirt.

/Bah! I found the skirt on my bed. It was mixed up with my other stuff because I'm that kind of person that makes one side of the bed into a desk, haha.
