Bootleg Shopkins Pet Carrier Case

I found bootleg Shopkins blind bags again, but I felt the bag and noticed it had something hard inside. That's when I realised that there might be a bootleg Shopkins pet carrier in there!

I opened the pack, and there it is! Too bad I do not have an original Shopkins pet carrier that I can use for a comparison.

I'm surprised to find one bootleg Shopkins inside instead of the normal two, but one is fine. I don't really like the bootleg ones anyway.

This kind of bootleg Shopkins is squishy and the paint job is not so good. I think the Shopkins inside is supposed to be a hairdryer.

Real vs Fake Shopkins Blind Backpacks

So here's the review I have put off for a long time, but now I'm motivated enough to share, lol.

So above are the authentic Shopkins blind backpacks.

These, however, are fake.

They come in a box with a plastic cover meant to secure the backpacks.

Top: Real Shopkins blind backpacks
Bottom: Fake Shopkins blind backpacks

I'm comparing the backpacks by colour first. As you can see on the left, the pink backpack has a Petkins face with cat ears. On the other hand, the right pink backpack has dog ears.

On the left, the green backpack has a Petkins face with dog ears. On the right, the green backpack has a Petkins face with cat ears.

Also look at the open eye on both backpacks. The real one has a round eye that is looking downwards. The fake one has a curve lower lash line and the open eye is looking upwards.

Now I'm comparing the backpacks by design.
The pink backpack has a very thick S logo (which stands for Shopkins). Also the paint job of the Petkins face is much better. This is the real one.
On the left, you will notice that the S logo is very thin. Also the paint job of the Petkins face is quite faint.

I have a similar observation as the real backpack on the first photo as it is on the real backpack on this photo. The paint job of the left backpack is very good, and the S logo is thick. I think the belt that secures what is supposed to be the bag flap looks more defined than its counterfeit version's.

When you open the bags, you will see that the real backpack's inside is very smooth and polished. On the fake one, the finish inside is not smooth, and there are odd indentations.

Also notice that the real backpack has two holes that help keep the backpack shut. Meanwhile the fake one only has one hole.

It's easy to tell which are the real ones among the fake ones when it comes to the actual Shopkins. The real Shopkins are firm and the paint job is really good. These fake ones are squishy and the faceup paint is sloppily added.

So if you must get the blind backpacks, then you can probably get either or both fake and real backpacks, these fakes don't look far off from the real ones. I think it will be cool to even repaint them in other colours. The Shopkins inside the backpacks are a different story though. The fake ones are truly horrible.

I'm pretty sure there are other fake Shopkins out there that are not the squishy type, but the firm type, but I don't want to get them, lol.

Peppa-mint and Maddie

I just noticed that Shopkins Shoppies doll Peppa-mint from the Chef Club series reminds me of Ever After High's Madeline Hatter from the Sugar Coated line.

Here's Peppa-Mint (Chef Club):

Then exchange her shoes with her signature doll:

And it would resemble something similar to Madeline Hatter:

Look at their hair colour! Look at their apron! their dripping chocolate skirt with pink/white stripes! Look at their chocolate waffle shoes with a scoop of dripping ice cream on top!

If I ever find Peppa-mint at the thrift store, I'd be totally game to transplant her head to a Monster High or Ever After High body.

Christmas 2016 Shopkins Shoppies Dolls?

I just saw a photo of upcoming Shoppies dolls. I could only identify a new Jessicake doll (left), that's about it.

Photo from RGI Christmas Trade Show happening now. Source

I'm curious about that girl on the right! Who could it be? What's her name?

/Apparently this is the Shopkins Season 6 Chef Club series.
Left to right: Jessicake, Bubbleisha, and Donatina (with short straight hair)!

Mini Backpacks and Star Wars

One time I saw plastic sharpeners being sold at Circle C, and they were in the shape of miniature backpacks. I bought a blue one for P20.

The other day, I found the same sharpeners from a different store, but they were priced at P10, and I was like, aw man. I bought three more, plus a plush charm with a dog's face, and was only asked to pay P40. So, the plush charm wasn't P20? I just noticed the price difference when the saleslady already bagged my items. I guess that makes up for the extra P10 I paid for the first sharpener. Sigh.

Those backpacks are 1:6. I just need to glue ribbons as bag straps. And I'm thinking about the Frozen stickers on them, if I should get rid of them or leave them alone. Hmm. The plush charm is for Lottie. She can use it as a pillow.

On a different day, I saw the Shopkins blind backpacks at SM. I wonder all the time why these blind bags are out of the stock most of the time. Are they really hot items? or are they prone to being shoplifted so now they are limited? Anyway, I had points to redeem from my membership card and thought that Lottie could use those backpacks, so I got one. I like to spoil her, what can I say, heh. I don't care that much about the Shopkins themselves; the bowling pin and jelly that were hidden inside the backpacks, but at least now I know how it feels like to touch a Shopkins item. They're firmer than those Shopkins clones I've dealt with before. And I could probably use them as props for future photos. They still might become useful someday.

The Shopkins backpacks only have moulded straps at the back, so again I shall glue ribbons there as bag straps. The size is perfect for Lottie. Will take photos when I'm done.

I also thought I'd photograph what has become my accidental Star Wars bust collection. First came the R2D2 snack clip I thrifted. I was supposed to give it to an old friend because she's a Star Wars fan, but we're not friends anymore so I get to keep this, hah. Then came the Chewbacca and BB8 pencil toppers from breakfast cereals. Then I'm not sure which came next, Queen Amidala Pepsi bottle cap that I thrifted, or the C3PO pencil topper which I bought at the Toycon Launchpad this year held at UP Town Center. (/I just checked an old entry. Yes, Queen Amidala came first, then C3PO.)

I think I'm stopping at five Star Wars characters. I'll move these to my new place soon.

Friday Thoughts

So I just went back to the repair shop and my phone is still under repair. I have not received assurance that it will be fixed and I can recover my old photos, but I'm thinking positive. I mean, those beach photos... I want them so badly. :-/

Things I learned or realised from my latest trip with my dolls:
  1. It's really a good idea to have a catch-all container for my doll accessories and clothes so that I don't have to lose anything. It's quite challenging to be organised during the trip because there are lots of small items I could possibly lose in the process of dressing up my dolls, so a big ziplock bag served its purpose well. When in a hurry, I could just dump all my stuff in the bag and not worry.
  2. Nothing beats daylight. The look of the natural light is soft (which of course, depends on the time of day you shoot) and the shadows cast on the dolls give the final photos some kind of personality. Plus you don't have to lug around huge lighting equipment. Daylight helps me so much in mobile photography because it's so convenient.
  3. Again, knowing and getting inspired by your subject well helps the photos look so much better. I have Asha the Made To Move doll, yet I was only able to shoot a couple of photos with her because I wasn't thinking a lot about her potential as a good poser. I also wasn't inspired to shoot her at the time. I guess it's because Asha is fairly new to my collection, so I haven't warmed up to her.
Anyway, it's taking a while for me to get back to my routine in real life because my things are a mess. My doll clothes are shoved in shoe boxes without order, even my doll accessories have scattered in those boxes. My room looks so dumpy, too. Sigh. I'll clean up soon.

Also I have new (second-hand) dolls I haven't blogged about:
  • A wobbly Hanna Montana head transplanted onto a Barbie basic belly button body. I had to transplant her head again to a different belly button body. (P70)
  • a Nikki Swappin Styles Artsy doll (P180)
And there would be two incoming dolls:
  • A twist-and-turn doll with an old Steffie or PJ face sculpt. Not sure which, but yay I love this face (P150)
  • A Christie Fountain Mermaid Barbie doll. Her skin + pink hair = awesome. (P150)
Ugh, well I told myself I should stop collecting Barbies, but look at me now. I'm not really collecting blonde Barbie, but the other girls, so yeah. Heh. I haven't had luck finding dolls I like at thrift stores lately, so online sellers to the rescue...

I have started transporting some of my dolls to my new place. I took a photo of the first batch of the dolls on the shelf over there (my La Dee Das, Novi Stars, Sindy, among others), but my phone is dead, remember. :-/ I'll be transporting more soon, those dolls that I think do not need a lot of work. Like, I'm not so invested yet in dressing up my Mary-Kate Olsen doll to a T. She looks all right wearing an Elly-chan dress at the moment. Besides I have lot more work to do on my nude and broken dolls. She's going to be fine.

I've been watching a lot of Project Runway episodes, even those that I haven't seen, Season 5 onwards, These episodes are inspiring me to create clothes for my dolls even more.

I got a Shopkins Season 5 backpack blind bag because the small backpacks are perfect for Lottie. I bought them using my bank rewards points, so I didn't have to shell out any money at the cashier. The backpacks are the perfect size for Lottie, but the straps are just sculpted on the back of the bags so Lottie couldn't wear them at all. I'll modify the backpacks so that Lottie could use them, like, hot glue some ribbons on it as straps. These backpacks would suffice while my quest for an affordable miniature randoseru bag is still on, haha. I mean, look at this, or these:

Adorable.

A Photo Dump! [Part 11]

I took these photos a couple of weeks ago.

Oh new blind bags from Playmobil. I heard on YouTube that they are quite difficult to assemble at times.

Shopkins food fair blind... cookie jars?

Sour Flush toilet candy.

I'm not sure if this is 1:6 scale. It might work?

I bought a DohVinci pack for P200 because I was curious about the airdry playdoh. I have no use for that peace sigh frame thing so I kept it in its packaging, haha.

I wanted to make doll shoes with DohVinci but my first attempt was a fail. I think I'll be more successful with just plain bathroom tissue paper and water or water/glue mixture. DohVinci is fun though. I'll think of something so I can still use it.

My Daruma doll collection so far. It's not much, but it's fun to collect these because they even don't cost that much when bought secondhand.

Gumby and Little Gumby on his shoulder! These two Gumbies don't look the same though, have you noticed?

My Hiragana fridge magnets, which is not complete, and a movie fridge magnet I won as a prize.

I found the Hiragana magnets from a Japanese thrift store. If you could read the first two lines on there, you can find Nonde kudasai which means Please drink, and Yaseru, which means to lose weight, haha. I was only able to come up with those things given the limited number of magnets available to me.

I also have a collection of magnets, mainly magnets from different countries, not in photo.

Rocket and Groot in one photo, finally! They are not of the same scale, but hey, Groot is very small in the upcoming movie sequel, okay!

I took a photo of budget Raven Queen because I didn't see her when I took these photos. There are actually more Ever After High dolls available locally now, like the book party dolls, the Dragon Games dolls including the forest pixies, and I even saw extra tall Madeline Hatter! I don't like this doll version of Madeline though because her hair looks so greasy and flat.

The new My Little Pony Equestria Girls minis are out, too. To me they are more adorable than the dolls, haha.

I found this brochure of Brother sewing products at the book store.

I wonder when I can have my own sewing machine. Their cheapest machine costs around P10,000.00. Sigh.

I bought a cheap Vespa scooter for P25. It looks promising.

I took this while waiting at the car wash.

It says on the back that there is assembly required. This is not true. Maybe the original scooter needs assembly, but not this cheap Vespa!

Look, I can even flip the top of the seat up, and the stand at the rear wheel also works! I didn't need to use the mini screw driver or the extra wheels for it. It's good to go as it is!

It lacks a lot of detailed painting, but I'm OK with it. Sadly this is not 1:6 scale. More like 1:12 but I'm pretty pleased with this miniature scooter!

Shopkins Season 4 blind basket bootleg

So I found another bootleg Shopkins blind basket, and it seems that it's a bootleg of the Season 3 basket.

(Please bear with my filthy nails and hand.)

I spent P35 for this blind basket.

The side of the basket with the Shopkins logo. The basket appears to be glittery.

It's only packaged with card stock. No plastic wrap at all.

12 pack. Right.

I just needed to peel off the adhesive tape from the bottom so that the flaps of the card stock are free.

No bags to hide the things inside.

Who are these in the Shopkins world??

The Shopkins next to their basket.

The original Shopkins Season 3 blind basket.

And the stuff inside the basket includes a check list.

I think the bootleg basket really resembles the original basket very well. I couldn't tell the difference at all. The way the goodies inside the basket were made and painted though is another story.

If there's a bootleg of the Shopkins crate or candy jar, I'd most likely get that, too. The containers are compatible to dolls, that's why.
