Burger King bobble head

(I posted this on my now private personal blog on September 11, 2014. Since I now have a toy blog, I'll post it here.)

Today I thrifted a Burger King bobble head for P10. I bought it because I feel that I could salvage it. It was stained with blue ink for a reason God knows what, and its stand is missing.

I used alcohol then an instant stain remover pen to see if I could get rid of the ink stains, but they barely worked. Then I remembered I have acetone because I keep a bottle in my nail polish kit. So I used it and to my surprise, the ink came off, but so did the paint on the plastic, LOL.

Anyway, some photos:

Burger King Touchdown King. An NFL 2006 memorabilia.

It's missing its stand so these pegs on its feet were useless at first. I couldn't make the figure stand up.

Fortunately I have a small tin lid lying around in my room.

I punctured it with my paring knife (the one I use to cut my Lush soaps) to make two small holes.

Now my bobble head can stand up, hey!

I used acetone to clean its crown because it was just stained with ink. Looks like some of the paint on the crown came off too.

A Photo Dump!

Because I feel the need to post and post before the year ends. As if I can't post in the coming year, duh.

This is the shelf from a crepe store I go to at the mall. I like those tin cars and those figures sitting at the edge of the shelf.

A vintage Cowardly Lion from the Wizard of Oz doll from the eighties. I didn't get it. It's missing a few items and it was barefoot. It was priced at P175.

Never forget.

A Pixels The Movie tumbler that was made to look like an old arcade machine. You will need a large straw to use it at the cinema, but you can still use it as a cup without the straw. I thought this is good for 1:12 dolls.

A Sila Clops Novi Stars doll I found a while back but didn't get because it was so expensive. Its box was still intact and its eye lights up.

City Ghouls from Boo York Boo York line of Monster High. Elle Eedee (right) is fantastic! Mouscedes King's (middle) hair is lovely. And I feel nothing for Luna Mothews, bye.

A Barbie I Can Be fashion pack that was on sale at P200. I am not as fond of Barbies as I am of Monster High or Ever After High dolls so I didn't get it.

A My Little Pony Equestria Girls Friendship Games doll. She's pretty cool, but I don't really like the MLP dolls that much. Something about their face and legs... I just can't figure it out.

The following are stuff that are part of the care package I sent to my niece:

A small Mattel doll I thrifted, and a troll doll I found in our garage. I can't identify the Mattel doll at all. :-/

A Frozen Elsa plush with sounds. I thrifted this too and got it really cheap! P35? P25? I don't remember.

A towel rack from this Barbie playset:

Photo from the internet

A pack of cheap doll shoes.

I used to store those plastic shoes in a pill container. On the right is a sample of how a doll shoe pack looks like. They normally cost P10 to P20 a pack.

A green doll bag I found at our garage, and a Barbie suitcase I thrifted. Wish I kept them for myself, haha.

A bath tub from the same play set where the towel rack came from. I thrifted this too.

A cheap doll bike I got for P20 or P25.

An old pic of the bike when it was still on my table.

A Barbie high chair with its table missing. I attached a plastic chain at the bottom because a piece is also missing there and its purpose was to stabilise the legs of the chair.

The chair came from this Kelly set.

Coin banks I saw at Landmark. These look a miniature 7-11 store.

More photo dumps to come, I believe.

2016 To Do List

I really don't like the term 'New Year's resolution' because whenever I hear it, I just think of failures and unfulfilled promises, haha. I thought it would be much more practical to call it a To Do list because first, I like making lists like this, and it calls me to action because once I do something, then it's finally accomplished and I can cross it off my list.

This is going to be long. Roughly three more hours and it's already 2016. I should take time for this entry.
  • Post more entries on this blog. What I mean by this is I should post all those things I've kept from posting because I haven't made time, or continue what I started.
  • Document my toy purchases much quicker. My blog is a means for me to remember what I did when I did them. It's also a way for me to track down my expenses. I think I started collecting dolls back in March or April this year and already lost count of my expenses for them, which is kinda sad. I think tracking my expenses would also help me slow down in buying, because I keep saying to myself that I still have to customise my thrifted dolls to stop myself from buying more, but I haven't even started with most of them!
  • Photograph all my toys in once place. Photograph all my collections. Photograph each toy. This is easier said than done because my room is a mess and I'm in the process of moving out.
  • Take better photos. The thing is it's not really a big deal for me that I only use my iPhone and occasionally my webcam for taking pictures. I like mobile photography, thank you very much. I'm that kind of person that just needs a photograph of one thing without really thinking very much into the technicality of angles, rule of thirds, lighting, etc. But I know there's room for improvement.
    • I can use a better camera. My sister gave me a standalone camera and I know the quality of photos taken by that camera would be much better than what I take with my iPhone, but I haven't used that because I don't have an SD card dedicated for that camera, and a card reader that I can use on my Macbook.
    • I can set up a better backdrop. I don't have a particular place where I photograph my toys but when I move, I can probably set up a light box at my new place, or just use pleasant looking backdrops like scrapbook paper or gift wrapping paper.
  • Sew and craft more. I'm doing this little by little. I haven't even taken photos of the shoes I made for my MH dolls, haha.
    • Customise ALL the dolls I have. Most of them should have to be in clothing that I won't take off from them anymore. An example is my Hit Girl doll.
  • Make a decent shoe rack for my doll shoes. I don't know why but I've always wanted a shoe rack for the shoes I have specially when I saw that Shopkins playset. I'm thinking of copying a good looking furniture I see online and translating that to 1:6 scale. I already bought tacky adhesive so I can use them for this purpose, haha.
  • Be more open to recycling. This would help me a lot in crafting and saving money. Blogging about recycling materials for art projects would definitely motivate to do it more often.
That's all I can think of at this point. Happy New Year!

Charlie Brown from 2015 Peanuts movie set of McDonald's Happy Meal

(I accidentally deleted the original post so I'm reposting it.)

I finally bought this toy from McDonald's. It's Charlie Brown!

Cute! If I were to get another one, I'd get Woodstock Bobble. But at the McDonald's I went to, Woodstock wasn't available. Next I'd probably get Lucy:

DIY Doll Sweater Using Old Socks

I thought of making a doll sweater using an old sock. I used to collect coloured socks. I think I've had 50 pairs at one point in my life (I don't really count them so that's just an estimate). So whenever I have to purge worn out ones, I feel kinda sad. I guess, making a doll sweater using my old socks can help me remember my favourite pairs, haha.

Here is the sweater on my Freak du Chic Honey Swamp. The fabric snagged near the neck because it's quite snugged, but meh, I'm not gonna bother anymore.

Harry Potter doll

I found this doll at the thrift store and thought he's interesting.

Turns out he's a Harry Potter doll! He's flat footed and quite articulated so I had fun posing him. He's still in need of decent clothes though. At first I clothed him in Licca clothes and they were too baggy. He also looked silly in them, haha. Then for some reason, I decided to bring out one of my toy boxes and examine my Breyer doll.

Photo from my Hunter Huntsman and Breyer doll post
It seems that Harry and my Breyer doll are almost of similar built.

Clothes sharing might be an option, so I gave it a try.

Harry loves his new boots. He'd rather wear these than Licca shoes or Pocahontas moccasins, haha. Note that I had to cut a slit at the back of the boots so that I can slip them off my Breyer doll's feet and put them on Harry.

Harry's face needs touchup. I just might paint his hair but do nothing on his eyebrow and lip. Should I make eyeglasses for him? Hmm...

The suit fits him. Everything fits! I still would like him to have proper school clothes and robe, just like in the movies, but this will do for now.

Organizing My Crafting Materials

I found some rubber band containers for sale at a toy section at P120 each. I thought these were cheaper than those similar cases that are sold at the home section, so I decided to get not just one, but two cases!

I planned to put my crafting materials in these containers so that I can see them right away because the containers are transparent.

This is a bulky makeup train case I got from my aunt's estate. I decided to store my crafting materials here first. My problem was I couldn't see my stuff right away.

My train case was full of different items. I thought I could just put my actual makeup kit here instead of my crafting materials, so transferring stuff was in order.

I couldn't fit everything in these cases, but at least most of my supplies are easily viewable and accessible.

Hard card case as doll luggage?

On YouTube I saw this video a while back:

I thought these look really cute and are very functional. However, when I think of luggage, the Rimowa kind of luggage comes to my mind, with the ridges and all.

Then one day, my brother gave me his broken RFID blocking card case. It won't keep shut anymore so he thought that maybe I could fix it or something. Then I thought, wow this looks like a mini luggage bag. Then it hit me:

(Photos from the net)

Don't they look like they could pass off as colourful Rimowa luggage bags? but thinner? Sure, they still need modification, but I think they might just work.
