Evie from Disney Descendants

Foxxy Cleopatra and Evie

I found Evie (right) while thrifting! She is missing her left hand. The black paint on her gloved right hand is chipping off, and her toes have melted, oh my!

I chopped off her curls because they were getting unruly even after a boil wash, then I just tied her hair into a pony tail. I haven't given her a left hand but for now she can hide her wrist under her Barbie dress.

I smoothened what is left of her toes with a Sally Hansen nail file to remove the rough edges of the plastic. And I tried to rub off the rest of the paint on her gloved hands but I'm not done yet.

Oh and I gave her eyeliner using a black watercolor pencil. I had to wet the tip of the pencil so I can draw over her factory eye paint, then I sealed it with a satin sealant and a black cotton swab (because I don't have regular white one right now. Just a set of black ones from Japan Home Centre).

Not in photo are the shoes she's wearing. They are yellow CD-R King/Kenko World shoe charms that my Licca doll used to wear.

The blue chair that Evie is using is from Daiso. In that previous entry, I also posted about a green chair, but I gave that one away to someone I transacted with recently, because we were supposed to meet up one day and I was late and didn't make it on time. I gave my buyer that chair as a freebie the next day to make up for the lost time.

In the photo above is Foxxy Cleopatra sitting on a wooden shelf that looks like a staircase. My sister actually bought that for me at Daiso in Hong Kong when she visited my other sister there. I haven't even made a post of her Daiso haul for me, but soon I will.

The background is actually a gift wrapper that has pretty cute illustrations of ladies in nice outfits. It's actually a collaboration of National Bookstore and a blogger named Chuvaness, and the artist is Keeshia Felipe. I modified the wrapper a bit by covering the brand all over the wrapper with correction tape because I like the wrapper much better without it, lol sorry.

Let me talk about two of those illustrations that I like the most:

Photo lifted from Preview article

This one is actually based on the red dress by Yulia Yefimtchuk. It's clearly based off of that because of the pose of this model too.

The other illustration:

It says on the article that this is based on fashion by Junya Watanabe. I can't find the exact match so maybe it's just an inspired illustration of something like this:

Now I want to copy those looks for my dolls, hahah.

Harumika Dress Form and LPS Blythe Hybrid

I found these while thrifting:

Left: A Harumika dress form with no stand, from the New York City designer dress form set.
Middle: An unidentified anime figure's body. Hope I can identify the owner using this website: https://www.animecharactersdatabase.com/. A figure of Perona from One Piece. (Thank you for the ID, "Unknown"!)
Right: A Littlest Pet Shop Blythe head, from LPS Blythe Style Skate set.

A clear envelope with some crafting supplies. What I find most important in this is the cutting mat.

Now I have a cutting mat, yes!

Back to the Harumika dress form. It didn't come with a stand so I have to improvise. I have a short wooden dowel, and a balloon cup stuck on a jar lid, which was previously a doll stand I used for my dolls.

There is a shallow hole underneath the dress form which was for the original stand, so I inserted the wooden dowel through it and it fits perfectly! I don't even need to add glue!

Then I inserted the wooden dowel through the balloon cup and it also fit! Now my dress form with stand is complete. I might leave it as it is, or paint the wood, the balloon cup and the jar lid black to match the dress form's colour.

/What's special about a Harumika dress form is that you can drape pieces of fabric on it and tuck them in the back to secure them. There's a tight slit on the back of the dress form for tucking fabric there so you don't have to sew anything. You can use a ruler to tuck the fabric there if you don't have that special tool that comes from the Harumika set.

Then this anime body Perona figure I found, at first I had a different plan for it because I knew I have an anime head in storage in my new place. While rummaging through the toy box at the thrift store, I found this random LPS Blythe head, then I thought of sticking the Blythe head to the body.

As you can see, the neck hole is just right for the neck peg of this body. So I gave the head transplant a try.

And it works!!

I had a heart shaped wood from a lot of toys and found use for it when I painted it black with a marker and stuck the figure onto it with sticky tack. It works!!

Afterwards, I gave the figure a wash specially the Blythe head because it had paint on its face and hair. I also stuck a lollipop I made from a wooden bead and toothpick to her raised hand to complete the look.

Now these aren't at the thrift store but at a local supermarket. I found this Sikaly doctor doll.

Then I noticed the joints of the doll.

Oh those are Liv joints! This doll has a Liv clone body...

... but I spoke too soon because her feet are Barbie sized and unarticulated. This is still good, because Barbie sized shoes are more accessible than Liv shoes!

And I noticed this cheap doll called Anita. Wow look at all that hair!

And the dress looks somewhat decent! The doll apparently has chopstick legs, but it's nothing a body transplant can't fix, right?

Finger Football

When I was in the hospital for four days, I dreamt of dressing my dolls in football outfits and forming small teams of seven so they could play 5-aside of futsal, lol. So when I saw this finger football set, I thought that my Liv dolls might find this useful:

"Football Game"

The finger football set comes with 2 pairs of shoes, a football and two small goals.

A closeup of the shoes. They're not really shaped like football cleats though. More like, basketball shoes.

The back of the packaging.

These look nothing like the shoes in the pack.

Out of the packaging.

The ball isn't painted nicely, or the halves of the ball are not aligned perfectly.

The ball can fit the goal just fine. It's a very small goal so kicks toward the goal should be low.

My fingers trying out a pair of finger football shoes.

So I really had Liv dolls in mind when I bought this pack. I made Miley wear it, and I'm sorry that she's not wearing appropriate clothing to play football.

The shoes are actually too big for Liv feet, but Liv feet can possibly get stuck in there because the plastic around the hole is too hard for any wiggle room when removing doll feet.

Miley showing off her football skills.

Miley knows how to juggle a ball! And she didn't forget to raise her arms sideways to keep her balance and to protect her space from anyone trying to steal the ball! Practice makes perfect! Well done!

Real vs Fake Shopkins Blind Backpacks

So here's the review I have put off for a long time, but now I'm motivated enough to share, lol.

So above are the authentic Shopkins blind backpacks.

These, however, are fake.

They come in a box with a plastic cover meant to secure the backpacks.

Top: Real Shopkins blind backpacks
Bottom: Fake Shopkins blind backpacks

I'm comparing the backpacks by colour first. As you can see on the left, the pink backpack has a Petkins face with cat ears. On the other hand, the right pink backpack has dog ears.

On the left, the green backpack has a Petkins face with dog ears. On the right, the green backpack has a Petkins face with cat ears.

Also look at the open eye on both backpacks. The real one has a round eye that is looking downwards. The fake one has a curve lower lash line and the open eye is looking upwards.

Now I'm comparing the backpacks by design.
The pink backpack has a very thick S logo (which stands for Shopkins). Also the paint job of the Petkins face is much better. This is the real one.
On the left, you will notice that the S logo is very thin. Also the paint job of the Petkins face is quite faint.

I have a similar observation as the real backpack on the first photo as it is on the real backpack on this photo. The paint job of the left backpack is very good, and the S logo is thick. I think the belt that secures what is supposed to be the bag flap looks more defined than its counterfeit version's.

When you open the bags, you will see that the real backpack's inside is very smooth and polished. On the fake one, the finish inside is not smooth, and there are odd indentations.

Also notice that the real backpack has two holes that help keep the backpack shut. Meanwhile the fake one only has one hole.

It's easy to tell which are the real ones among the fake ones when it comes to the actual Shopkins. The real Shopkins are firm and the paint job is really good. These fake ones are squishy and the faceup paint is sloppily added.

So if you must get the blind backpacks, then you can probably get either or both fake and real backpacks, these fakes don't look far off from the real ones. I think it will be cool to even repaint them in other colours. The Shopkins inside the backpacks are a different story though. The fake ones are truly horrible.

I'm pretty sure there are other fake Shopkins out there that are not the squishy type, but the firm type, but I don't want to get them, lol.

Fashion Tea Set

I found this doll tea set at a store for P10! What a deal!

It has an off-scale teapot, three saucers and six teacups. Now the number of saucers in relation to the number of teacups is quite odd, but I don't mind anymore.

I was really interested in the teacups and the saucers at first. They are transparent and come in bright neon colours! How cool is that!

It was very easy to take these out of the packaging. I thought I wouldn't find any use for that giant teapot, but then I realised that my Gigi Grant can use this teapot as her lamp, lol!

Also everything actually fits inside the teapot! Easy storage, yes! What I thought would be a useless teapot is now useful to me.

The lid fits the teapot securely so the teacups and saucers won't fall out of there so easily.

I like the colours of the teacups and saucers so much because they match this inflatable chair I thrifted the other day! Everything is bright and our eyes hurt, hahaha.

Here is... Okay, I hadn't really thought of a name for my accidental afro Ballerina Barbie, but after her makeover, I did brand her as some sort of sassy housewife, so the word 'foxy" comes to mind.

However, the term 'foxy housewife' brings about undesirable search results on Google. And I don't want 'foxy mamma' for her either, just because.

So I thought I could just call her "Foxxy Cleopatra" because her hair reminds me of Beyonce in Austin Powers: Goldmember. Now it's final. This is Foxxy Cleopatra!

Foxxy is loving this inflatable lounge chair so much! It's perfect for doing nothing on a Sunday afternoon!

/March 30, 2017
I just found out that the chair belongs to Sit In Style Barbie! What's funny is that I recently got a Sit In Style Kira doll! This is so cool!
