A Lot of Work in Progress

I've been working on a number of broken Monster High dolls. This could take a while. A long while...

Lagoona Blue and her new arms

I'm still thinking of another way to attach the new hands and forearms without the wire taking over the doll's whole arms haha.

And about the Hannah Montana inspired dress, I haven't worked on it since I started. I checked the cloth and I found small insects. Ew. I dusted it off and placed it in a clear plastic bag afterwards. I'm not sure if I want to continue working on it because it looks dirty now. I might start on a new one and just use glue for the sequins to make the process faster.

I'm not up for a Halloween post because I'm working on stuff. And Zombie Alice is not with me so I don't feel like celebrating now.

Jem Looking Like Gwen

So I did a blog entry earlier about the upcoming Kuu Kuu Harajuku doll line. While I was browsing Google Images for the blog post, I found this image of Gwen Stefani, and thought to myself, "This outfit looks familiar..."

Then I realised that my Jem and The Holograms doll has a similar outfit.

Haha. OK now I'm truly convinced that I shouldn't paint Jem's shoes anymore into a different colour.

OMG Thrift Find: Fairy Tale High Dolls

I finally found two Fairy Tale High dolls from the thrift store recently!! It was quick for me to wash them and give them a style makeover.

Fairy Tale High dolls: Before & After

I got a handless Teen Cinderella and a Teen Tinkerbell with her hands still intact, yes!

On Teen Cinderella:
Barbie athletic jacket and shorts
Very short red shirt from a random teddy bear, I guess
Hair band I made out of decorative paper stars and a water bottle plastic ring
Daiso black socks and pearl necklace
Red clone MyScene shoes

On Teen Tinkerbell:
New Moon Sindy fatigue shirt
Takara denim skirt with lace
Green Pocahontas bag
Pink doll shoes that I won as a prize online
Plastic bow from a Barbie Swappin Styles head

Teen Cinderella's hands were made from a drink stirrer, which I've first discussed here, and similar to what I did to C.A. Cupid here.

I'm pretty pleased with these two. I don't think I need more of them. I love Teen Tinkerbell's hair because it's so different! And I was surprised that Teen Cinderella's hair is actually manageable, though I did lose a hair plug during the hair combing stage.

I don't mind these dolls not having great articulation. I just want them to be able to stand up or sit down anyway.

DIY Doll Halloween Masks

I found a Toy Kingdom catalogue as an insert in a daily newspaper and went through the pages. I saw a number of masks published on the catalogue, and it gave me an idea to cut those out and turn them into doll Halloween masks!

Some of the pages that have the Halloween masks on them:

Direct URL on Issuu:

My only issue about this is that some masks are printed back to back, so I couldn't cut out all the masks without ruining the other masks at the back of the page. I just ended up choosing which one looks much better and cut that one out instead.

I cut out the masks from the catalogue, then I pasted them on old greeting cards using a glue stick to make them stronger. Then I cut them out again.

Here's California Dream Midge modelling some of the masks I finished when I was halfway done with all of them:

The eyes have been cut out so that the doll can "see". In some of the masks I made a cut on the nose area so that the doll's nose can protrude while the mask stays flat on the doll's face. I secured a loom band at the back of the mask using staple wires. The staple wires are pretty obvious on the front, but it's a Halloween mask anyway so it doesn't have to be so perfect looking.

The cutouts I made on the eyes were not exact, so my cuts ended up looking jagged, and there are these small rips on the paper which are clearly visible from the front. To hide those, I just outlined the eyeholes with a black marker. The black marker also adds some darkness to the appearance of the masks.

I don't think I have the energy to dress all of my dolls for Halloween, so these masks are more convenient and practical to use.

Happy Halloween!

Kuu Kuu Harajuku Doll Line Preview

I know that Gwen Stefani had her own doll line. The clothes were really good, but I'm not sold on the dolls because of the big head small body ratio. The body reminds me of a clone Bratz body, haha.

Anyway, this month, it was announced that Gwen is releasing a new doll line through Mattel very soon. It's for her own animated show on Nickelodeon called Kuu Kuu Harajuku. Here's a preview photo:

Oh that cute little doll!!

Kuu Kuu Harajuku doll - G

I learned that her name is G. She's named after Gwen, I suppose, because the other characters in the show are Love, Angel, Music and Baby, which are actually the stage names of Gwen's dancers, the Harajuku Girls.

It looks like her knees can bend. I wonder if her arms do too.

I had no idea about this show until I found out about the doll. If you want to read more about the show, here's a file I found, which I think is a media kit for the show. I read that they're going to be released in 2017. Can't wait to see the fashions of this doll line!

What do you think of these Kuu Kuu Harajuku dolls now??

Miniature Rody Horse

I found a miniature Rody horse and thought it would be a great toy for Lottie!

It's quite small for Lottie, but I don't mind.

It's squishy but firm. It's a cool alternative for a stress ball! I even brought it with me while I did my errands one time:

At a reception area.

At a hospital.

In the car.

If I find another miniature Rody horse, I might not be able to resist buying it and starting a collection. It's so adorable!

A Christmas Story Leg Lamp Ornament

When I saw this Christmas decor at HMR, I thought I had to get it.

It's a Hallmark Christmas tree ornament! It's a miniature replica of the famous leg lamp from the movie 'A Christmas Story'.

This is the leg lamp ornament out of the box. I'm surprised that it can stand on its own. Unfortunately I made it stand on my book shelf and it got knocked over, so a part of the gold base has chipped off, but I just taped it back again and it looks okay now. I've never seen the movie at all but from what I read when I spoiled myself, the lamp actually got broken in the story, so what a coincidence, lol!

I thought it would be a nice addition to a future doll room diorama, or not if I decided to just use it as a decor on my desk.

Thrift Store Finds and C.A. Cupid's New Hands

So I went back to two thrift stores a week ago and found these stuff:

Headless Headmistress Bloodgood, Elissabat, C.A. Cupid, and a miniature Rody Horse!

Cupid was missing her hands and had paint all over her body, and on her left cheek, but it's good that she cleaned up a bit well. There's a trace of the paint on her cheek but I'm not that bothered. Elissabat is missing her arms, as the usual case is with the Monster High dolls I find at thrift store.

I'm thrilled about the headmistress because she's on a big sister body sculpt and she's my first! And her head really does come off. I decided to turn her into a flight stewardess. I actually prefer this outfit on her than on Licca. Her hat came from a teddy bear, by the way. It fits her because her name is Bloodgood and the hat has the letter B on it.

The length of the skirt shows off her legs. I love it.

I dressed up Cupid in a pink outfit, of course.

Halter top: Takara, secured around the waist with a Loomband
Skirt: Barbie?
Shoes: CDR-King shoe charms

Then I thought of fixing her further and gave her new hands, yay! The hands came from a plastic stirrer, and I used wire to attach them to her wrists. They are still removable and can rotate (but not bend), so that's already fine. I'm glad she's already complete!

I like that the Takara top has a pearl heart detail on it. It's a nice touch for Cupid!

Don't they look like gloves? I also gave Cupid a top hat. It's actually Maddie's old top hat.

Speaking of thrift store find, I found another Ghoulia. My second one:

It's from the Scaris: City of Frights line. I cleaned her up already and tied her hair into a ponytail. She's still nude in my toy box because I haven't found a way to complete her, haha. I love her dark red lips and blue eyeshadow. She looks like a movie star because of her makeup!

I'll talk about the miniature Rody horse next time. It's a fun toy for Lottie, and for me when I need to fidget!

Brown and Pink Coordinates

I have been a bit unmotivated to write on my blog as of late. Sigh. Anyway...

A few days ago, I made my Mattel Sharpay - Liv hybrid doll wear a Takara Jenny coordinate that consists of a jacket, a belt and pants all in this odd brown pattern. I tried the whole outfit on Made To Move Asha and the pants do not fit her at the waist. As usual I have no appropriate shoes that fit Liv dolls.

I made Fred look more pink.

I found a pink coat at the thrift store, and thought, This is so Fred, so I had to get it. Then I forgot that I have a pink cowboy hat, and found it recently, so I put it on him as well. Now he looks tacky as ever and I love it. The colour is inspired by his old fashions. I looked up photos of this vintage doll and saw that Fred had a lot of pink and tacky outfits, so he has to wear a similar one too!

In other news, I found my cling wrap roll, finally. I forgot that I placed it in the box where I kept my poor Christmas tree, so when I came looking for the tree because I wanted to set it up in our living room (Yes, it's totally acceptable in the Philippines to put up Christmas decorations at home when it's still October), I was pleasantly surprised that it was also there. Now I can make shoes for my barefoot dolls using the wrap and hot glue, haha.

Also this afternoon I found bootlegs of the Shopkins Season 5 blind backpacks! I had to get one set to compare to my authentic ones. Comparison photos of those soon!

And I want to share this photo I found on Tumblr. It made me laugh so much.

Miraculous Dress Up Game

I have only seen a couple of episodes of Miraculous episodes and found them enjoyable for the fact that the love quadrangle/square (???) between Marinette, Adrien and their superhero counterparts Ladybug and Catnoir make a good story. I also like the colours red and black, so hey.

I forgot that I actually played a dress up game for Miraculous a while back, so I want to share these photos I saved:

Cat Noir's dress up game doesn't have a lot of clothing options, so I just decided to make his outfit have more accessories and more gold in it.

I made Ladybug look more preppy and athletic, but I doubt this is a suitable fighting uniform, haha.

New And Old Stock at The Local Department Store

JUST LOOK AT THESE ANLILY DOLLS!! They arrived at the local department store at the beginning of the month!

LOOK AT THAT! LOOK AT THE COLOURS!!

There's the green doll with a chevron pattern top and denim style skirt!

There's a pink doll (with brown hair, boo) with a striped top and pink denim skirt!

And there's a purple doll with polka dotted shirt and purple denim skirt!!

The outfits are all one-piece, not separates, and they remind me of Chambray Chic Curvy Barbie!

I looked at their shoes and they look pretty nice.

I'm so tempted to get the green doll. It costs P209.75 so I'm really tempted, but I'm dealing with it. It looks more fun than the budget Barbie dolls, ugh.

I also saw this reproduction doll at the mall. It looks like old stock and doesn't get the light of day all the time. I opened the box and...

OH WOW!

A reproduction Bubblecut Barbie? Is that how people call this??

I love this dress!! It's so chic looking and sparkling!

Her other outfits are made of the same fabric too. These outfits are okay but nothing beats the collared dress! Her price is P6999.75 and there's no way I could afford her. Kbye.
